Touring The National Mall in Washington DC

Back in the Spring of twenty-sixteen, my friends Amy, Raquel, and myself traveled to DC together. I had moved back to Utah from DC about nine months prior to this trip and was so anxious to visit! We stayed with my sister and her family, and I got to show my friends around this amazing and historic city. The day was rainy and cold, but we had so much fun and walked the Mall, despite the weather.

Our first day was spent hunting down the last of the cherry blossoms (which had blossomed early that year), and checking out the memorials in the National Mall. We started with the Jefferson Memorial, then made our way around to the Washington Monument, the WWII Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and Arlington National Cemetery.

I love visiting these monuments and memorials because they each tell such a special story. When you walk into the Lincoln Memorial, everyone is hushed. Each person visiting can feel the sacredness of that place. The same is true for each of the memorials, and it's a wonderful thing to experience!

Washington DC will forever hold a special place in my heart. More posts coming soon!

The Perfect Petite Watch

This post is sponsored by Daniel Wellington - all opinions are my own. #DWClassicPetite #danielwellington @danielwellington

For as long as I can remember, I have loved watches. I think they are one of the classiest accessories and obviously useful. For years I have been looking for the perfect, petite, leather watch that I can wear on a day to day basis, one that won't look overwhelming on my small frame. But as hard as I have looked, I have had no luck in finding my perfect watch. So when Daniel Wellington, my favorite watch company, launched their new petite collection, I was so excited! These new watches are so beautifully dainty, and perfect to wear with any outfit. I feel like I finally found what I have been looking for.

Since it's Summer, my looks have been very simple, with minimal jewelry. Only my very favorite pieces get worn during these warmer months, including my favorite gold ring, my two favorite gold necklaces, and of course, my Classic Petite Bondi Daniel Wellington Watch! I received two straps for this watch - one set in white and the other in brown. I am loving the versatility this gives me and that I can swap out the straps to match my looks! (stay tuned for the brown version - coming soon)

This Jacket Was Literally Made For Me

Summer is my favorite time of year for so many reasons, including Summer thunderstorms! Last night I sat on the porch as a storm rolled through, taking in the smell, the sight, and the sound. Before the storm, yesterday's temperature was around one hundred degrees Fahrenheit, but during the storm it dropped to sixty! It's days like this that I pull out my favorite trench coat to keep me warm and dry - yet still looking nice.

This trench coat was made to fit me perfectly by a made-to-fit women's clothing company called Sumissura. Since I am a petite girl, standing at just four feet and eight inches, you can imagine that finding coats that fit can be a challenge, so I was extremely excited to give Sumissura a try. This coat turned out beautifully, and every detail is perfection from the supple fabric, to the sturdy construction. I've never had a coat fit me like this before and I must say, I don't think I'll ever go back to purchasing them mass-produced - this fit is just too good! From the just-right sleeves to the perfectly-fit shoulders, this coat was clearly made just for me.

5 Uses for Coconut Oil in Your Beauty Routine

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CreateWithOil #CollectiveBias

As a professional in the beauty industry, I am constantly doing my research to find the best products that not only look great, but are also great for you. So many of the products you see the big YouTubers and beauty bloggers using are full of ingredients that do more harm than good. They're just not worth using, no matter how badly you want to get that "instagram look". I make an effort to use products I trust, from my lip balm to my hair conditioners. One great tool that everyone should have in their bathroom is coconut oil. There are so many products you can replace with this one, all natural product. You'll not only be saving money, you'll also be saving your skin (and hair, and teeth, etc.).

In this post, I am using LouAna Coconut Oil, from my local Kroger store, to show you five uses for Coconut Oil in your beauty routine! LouAna was born in Opelousas, Louisiana in 1820, a place where the food is an expression of love, flavor, and family. LouAna Coconut Oil is the perfect solution to all of your cooking needs, whether you're baking, sautéing, or even frying. But LouAna is great for much more than just cooking! Like me, many people use LouAna Organic Coconut Oil in their daily health and beauty routines - including body butters, oil pulling/mouth wash, skin moisturizers, homemade toothpastes, face moisturizers, and hair masks!

Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub
1 cup LouAna Coconut Oil
2/3 cup Sugar

Mix your LouAna Coconut Oil and sugar together until well blended. Use this scrub anywhere from your lips to your feet! Gently exfoliate in a circular motion, wipe off excess product with a towel or tissue, and rinse.

Coconut Oil Hair Masque
1-2 tbsp LouAna Coconut Oil

Warm 1-2 tbsp of LouAna Coconut Oil in your hands and work it through your hair from root to tip. Once your hair is completely covered, wrap it into a bun or braid it at the back of your head. Let the oil sit for 4-8 hours then wash as you normally would.

Coconut Oil Lavender Moisturizer
1/2 cup LouAna Coconut Oil
2-4 drops Lavender Oil

Place 2-4 drops of lavender oil into 1/2 cup LouAna Coconut Oil. Stir together then use to moisturize anything from your lips to dry heels. Keep it in small containers in various parts of your house for easy access.

Coconut Oil Makeup Remover
1 tsp LouAna Coconut Oil

Warm 1 tsp of LouAna Coconut Oil in your hands and use it to gently remove makeup. Apply coconut oil in a circular motion, swiping your fingers gently over your eyes in a downward diagonal motion. Wipe away excess oil with a towel or tissue, then rinse.

Coconut Oil Pulling
1 tbsp LouAna Coconut Oil

Place 1 tbsp LouAna Coconut Oil into your mouth and swish it like mouthwash for 10-20 minutes. Once the time is up, spit it into a garbage can, rinse, and then brush with a different toothbrush than the one you use regularly. Do this daily for a brighter and cleaner smile.

LouAna is always the start of something good! So be sure to grab some and change your beauty routine today, with this coupon to save $1.00 on any LouAna Coconut Oil purchase. If you've been looking for a mildly delicious coconut taste and aroma, then LouAna Unrefined Coconut Oil is perfect for you!
