My Family Is Moving To Australia

As I type this, my sister and her family are driving across the country from Virginia to Utah. They'll spend a few days here with our family and then they are off to spend the next four years in Australia! We knew an international move was coming up for them, but none of us expected it to be as far away as Australia. While the idea of them being so far away, in a foreign country, for the next four years is a little hard to swallow, it's also such an exciting opportunity for them and you know that I will be visiting for as long and as often as I can!

As the family has been brushing up on their knowledge of Australia, one of the things we have learned is that Australia has the strictest sunscreen standards in the world due to the harsh rays that shine year round. (The kids are even required to wear hats at recess!) Because of this, I have been helping my sister find a sunscreen that will not only protect, but work on my family's sensitive skin. So when I found Blue Lizard® Australian Sunscreen, at Walmart, in their Sensitive formula, I was so excited to give it a try! We have some harmful Summer rays here in Utah too, so I definitely need all the protection I can get!

One of my favorite parts about Blue Lizard® Australian Sunscreen is that their bottles change color when exposed to harmful UV sunlight, which is a great tool you and your kids can use to remind you to reapply! Blue Lizard® has a unique zinc oxide formulation and provides broad spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays! At SPF 30+, Blue Lizard® is a product trusted by dermatologists, pediatricians, and most importantly - mothers!

Parents should consult their pediatricians before using any sunscreen on a child 6 months or younger. For children older than 6 months, try Blue Lizard® Baby or Sensitive to minimize risk of skin sensitivity.

Since my family will soon be moving to Australia, and I am definitely going for an extended stay, I figured I'd share a few tips on preparing to travel across the world to the Land Down Under!

Tip 1. Stock up on Blue Lizard® Australian Sunscreen
The sun is brutal in Australia, and you're going to need that protection (even if you think you don't). Stock up on Blue Lizard® at your local Walmart with THIS SPECIAL OFFER to earn $4 on the Sensitive 5oz bottle!

Tip 2. Purchase a Hat
If the children are required to wear hats during recess, goodness knows you're going to want one too! Go with something that has a wider brim to protect your ears, forehead, and nose - you know, those spots that are more likely to burn than others.

Tip 3 - Purchase a Great Bag!
I love this bag and it fits all of my essentials so I can travel light and know that my belongings are safe! Plus it looks amazing!

Tip 4. Do Your Research
It's always important to research before you travel anywhere. I've been looking into ways to get to Australia - including flying to different destinations first to break up the long flight, and even taking a boat rather than a plane!

Tip 5. Stock Up On Simple Clothing
There's nothing worse than getting to a destination and hating all the clothing you've packed with you (been there, done that). So start stocking up on simple, lightweight pieces that you can layer as well as mix and match! It will also leave room in your bag for any souvenirs you wish to bring home!

As sad as I am that my sister and her family will be so far away, I'm also so excited about the opportunities that await them (and me) from this adventure! Let me know if you have any advice or suggestions about traveling to Australia - I've never been!

It's been so long since I've caught up on my favorite blogs! Love your hat in this post, Gentri! Too cute :)

My guy is also pretty obsessed with the outdoors; he's been slowly convincing me to unearth the hiker-camper-kayaker within... it's been a humorous process, and I don't always want to admit to him, but it's working. I'm being converted!
