The holiday season is upon us and brining with it weekend trips to Grandma's house (or whomever's house you're planning to visit). I love a good weekend getaway, especially when good food and good company is involved! So, to kick off your holiday season, which is sure to be filled with a lot of traveling, I've put together my weekend essentials packing guide. This will teach you how I pack for my weekend trips using only a backpack!

Of course, any good road trip requires more than just outfit prepping. Your car always needs a little TLC before heading out, and Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic motor oil with PurePlus™ Technology is just the thing it craves. Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic motor oil not only keeps your car's pistons up to 20% cleaner than the toughest industry standard requirements, but it also performs much better in hot and cold temperatures (which is perfect when hitting the road and driving through changing climates). Plus, Pennzoil® Platinum Full Synthetic is currently on Rollback at your local Walmart ($49.88 Rollback to $44.88) through December 27, 2016!

How To Pack For a Weekend Road Trip Using Just A Backpack:

Tip 1: First of all, remember that it is only one weekend. If you happen to forget something or even under pack, you will survive!

Tip 2: I always wear my bulkiest items while traveling so I can save room in my bag

Tip 3: Pick items that are within the same color family to maximize mixing and matching

Tip 4: Pack one pair of leggings and one pair of jeans so you have a variety without compromising space

Tip 5: Use one small toiletry bag to keep things organized and minimal

Tip 6: Roll your clothing items to help conserve precious space

Outfit Planning:
I always do my best to pack a variety of "seasons" when traveling (learned the hard way how important that is). So my bag always includes my favorite and most comfortable black t-shirt, a black cardigan, black leggings, a favorite button down top - to mix things up (this can be worn open, buttoned, or tied around the waist), and a few key accessories to make things interesting. Then for travel, I wear my bulkiest item including chunky sweaters, hats, and shoes.

Of course, my trip wouldn't be complete without my journal, phone and/or camera, reusable water bottle, and Pennzoil® Platinum Full Synthetic to help keep my car running smoothly.

Walmart Automotive Care Centers in Florida, Goergia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee are now able to benefit from oil changes with Pennzoil® Platinum Full Synthetic. Be sure to share your excitement about getting your car prepped for a holiday weekend if you live in one of these states, along with the rest of the nation. And remember that you can grab Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic motor oil on rollback until December 27, 2016!

Now you can pack up and head out without taking your entire wardrobe... I know it can be hard to pack light at first, but you'll thank me later! Just leave all of the extra stuff at home and enjoy the time you get to spend with those you love.

Oh, I definitely needed the reminder that it's ok to pack light. Whenever we take roadtrips, I fall into the trap of just packing it all into the car. But then we end up with way too much stuff! Thanks for sharing the tip about the rollback at Walmart right now, too! #client
