Hiking is one of my favorite activities, as you all know (probably too well). In my opinion, it is one of the best ways to spend your time. Not only are you outside, enjoying nature, but you are also getting the exercise that your body needs! It's a win-win in my book. It's perfect for everyone, whether you're heading back to school and only have time for some short evening or weekend hikes, or if you have all the time in the world and hike for hours a day.
Whenever I am heading out for a hike, I make sure to take some essentials with me. I am not one of those extreme hikers who has cool gadgets for any emergency, but there are a few things that even I can't leave home without. Some of these items are- a jacket, a hat, sunglasses, a water bottle (which I clearly forgot, here), and of course, my phone. I love using my app to track my progress and help me to achieve my healthy goals! I have posted about this app before, here, and really love it. It helps me stay on track, especially during this busy time of year. It's perfect for anyone, even if you're trying to stay healthy and dealing with the hustle and bustle of going back to school.
I also love to stock up on other essentials from Walgreens, it's a great place to stop and grab what you need just before heading out for that hike. Including-
Some allergy medicine. I don't know about you, but I can be completely fine until suddenly, I'm not. Eyes, throat, and ears start to itch, the sneezing ensues... Yuck. So I always make sure to have some Zyrtec on hand. Next is Motrin IB. My neck tends to get really sore and achy on me, so I always make sure to have some great pain killer in my bag. Then, you can't go hiking without some Band-aids. Someone is bound to slip or scratch themselves, and it is nice to have something to cover up the wound until it can be properly treated.
