I'm definitely a nostalgic person; I love taking trips down memory lane, looking at old pictures, watching movies I haven't seen in years, and going through boxes of old treasures. There's nothing quite as memory inducing as taste and a simple smell is almost a form of time travel. Growing up, I had my favorite candies, like all children. But one of my very favorites were the M&M's® Crispy. I was so sad when they discontinued them, and while the pretzel M&M's® are a great substitution and equally delicious, I couldn't help but still miss the Crispy. That is... Until I found them at Walmart! That's right, everyone, M&M's® Crispy are back!
Eating these M&M's® sent me back to a simpler time; I felt like a kid again and I wanted to share that in a blog post. So I asked my mom to send me some pictures of when I was a child so I could recreate a childhood outfit. My mom always made sure I was looking my best, so I knew I'd have some great ones to choose from. We're talking big bangs, crimped hair, lots of 90's flare; the works!
Since I don't have the exact same clothing, this is more an "inspired by" look. (see the original photo below) I took inspiration from the red heart and wore it on my lips, instead. I still wore a lot of denim, but in a more modern way. The moto jacket helps to break up the all-denim look. I don't know what shoes I was wearing in the original outfit, so I went with a classic Mary Jane shoe, something I would have loved as a little girl. If my hair were still long, I would have had a little more fun with it. But since I just cut it, I couldn't really get away with the half-side-pony look.
That facial expression... some things never change...
jacket- gap (similar)
shirt- c/o lulu's (similar)
shoes- c/o sven clogs
lipstick- anthropology (color is "poppy, and I love it!)
rings- from my childhood (thought they were fitting)
What kind of M&M's® are your favorite?
P.S. I found the M&M's® Crispy in the "baking" aisle at Walmart where they come in a big bag. But they're also available in individual sizes at checkout (bonus- the individual packs are only 180 calories! perfect for a midday indulgence).
