Work of Art

I bought this beautiful picture from the Vintage Revivals hoarder sale, and while I kind of loved it the way it was, I decided that it could use an update to better fit into my place.

So I grabbed a can of primer and a can of white spray paint and went to town on the frame, then grabbed a can of chalkboard paint and painted right over the picture... (I still feel bad about that... but I love it this way!)

Every time we have people over they have so much fun creating new pictures for us.

And this is the one I created this morning.

Even though I felt bad for covering up that artists work, I love being able to create my own...

I love chalkboards in homes! A great slate to create. But my mouth literally dropped as I scrolled down to see that you covered over the artwork! Lol. Very brave of you.

I've been searching for the perfect frame to do just this! I like your version of art better. Cute, cute, cute!

I love that you said you "grabbed" primer, spray paint, and chalk board paint. Ya'll make DIYing look so easy! :) And your project is great-- sometimes when you find an old work of art and don't connect with it, that is the best way to put meaning to it!

The frame alone is worth it! Very cute - And how fun for your company to come and create art. Such a personalized experience. :o)

I love the idea of this! I also love the idea of painting one wall in a children's room to let them draw all over! :)

Your blog is adorable!

I think I might do that, only with an ugly picture that I don't feel guilty about covering. :D

Lovely idea, but I would have taken another painting or a frame without anything in it ;)

Love the new frame, but I'd never have the guts to paint over a painting. Maybe because Justin's a painter, but it turned out super cute!!!

I just did this, and the chalkboard paint turned out to create kind of a rough chalkboard surface. Is yours like that too, or did yours make a smooth chalkboard surface? I wonder if I did it wrong...
