Chasms

One day, my roommate and I went on a hike. Soon after we started, we lost the trail and found ourselves wandering among the rocks. It was beautiful and things were going well. But towards the end we came to this separation in the rocks that would have to be jumped. She made it, no problem, but I'm a lot smaller. As I stared at the space before me, I doubted whether or not I could make it, she asked if I would like her to find another way for me. I boldly said no, and then I jumped.

As I looked back at the space I'd just leapt, I realized how small it was. I had no reason to fear, but because I was fearful and then conquered that fear- I am now stronger and braver and know that my potential is far greater than I give myself credit for.

As we come to these chasms in life, we'll look at the task before us and say "I am not ready to make that leap. I am not strong enough to make it across." But your ability is far greater than you give yourself credit for. Do not doubt yourself. You are strong and have potential far beyond what you know.

So take that leap of faith. You'll be stronger for it. When you reach the other side you'll realize how simple the task was and how strong you really are.

I've been following your blog for a while now and haven't commented for a long time. But I just wanted to say that, wow, I wouldn't be able to do what you did because I have a fear of heights. But I commend you for being able to make that leap over that space and at the same time, made a leap of faith. Those are two great leaps! Great, inspiring post. God bless :-)

This is so true!! I look back on the scary times of my life and am surprised that I made it!! God give us just enough strength to handle things that we think we can't.
Way to go! :-)

Beautifully written. I feel this way every time I get through another semester of school. It's amazing the way we stretch and then grow when we don't allow ourselves to give up.

Very lovely writing! And I'm a big fan of the typography on your photo. Do you study graphic design or just do it for fun?
