Tip #3: No-Reply Commenters
Don't know what this is? Then you are the one that should be reading this. haha! You see, myself, and all of the other blogs you comment on would LOVE to reply to your comments. But we can't. Because you are a "noreply comment" blogger. It's easy to change, and you will be making blog friends left and right after doing this!
Step 1: Log into blogger and go to "Edit Profile"
Step 2: Check the box that says "Show my email address"
Your email is now public- MEANING- that when you leave a comment on a blog they can easily reply to your comment via email!
Step 3: Don't want your blog emails going to the same email address you use to blog? Then scroll down to "Identity". Your username should be your blogging email. Then where it says "email address" should be the one you want your comments going to.
Step 4: Save and DONE!
Tip #2: Replying to Comments:
Now that you are all set up to receive replies from comments left on other blogs, here's how YOU can reply to comments left on your blog!
Step 1: Blogger automatically sends you an email with the comments left on your blog, correct?? (if you have your comment moderation set to "approval only" you'll receive the emails AFTER you approve them.)
Step 2: Open one of those comment emails.
Step 3: Click "Reply"
and you thought it was going to be hard! haha!
Step 4: If instead of seeing the commenters email address in the address box you see this: firstname.lastname@example.org kindly refer that blogger to this tutorial so they can learn too.
Tip #1: Please the Eye
You could have a blog filled with the most inspiring words, the prettiest pictures, wonderful tutorials, etc. But unless your blog is pleasing to the eye, easy to navigate through, and everything fits harmoniously, people will not stick around (I know mine is getting a bit crazy. I'm trying to get a new design, but it might take a while).
First- do not over clutter your blog. Keep it simple. Here are some things that turn me off to reading a blog:
- Crazy backgrounds
- A million different fonts
- Colored fonts (please, I WILL NOT squint to read what you wrote in that baby shade of pink)
- Pictures that are too big for the body of your blog and reach into the sidebars, etc.
- Every picture is tiny and fuzzy
- No pictures
- Your posts are longer than the day
I could go on...
But I won't.
I know that I am not perfect and probably commit some blogging sins myself. But I hope you learned something from my blogging tips posts! In a few days I'll be posting my "Blogging Etiquette" tips. Goodness knows that's even more important.
