Halloween Party! Costumes, Ghost Stories, and more!

Hey everyone! I hope you're having a fabulous weekend! I've got a few things for you today, but they're all AWESOME!! So I hope you make it all the way through. :)

Last night I was able to go to a party that my church was throwing for young single adults. I had a blast and was so glad I went. Two of my friends and myself planned our outfits to go together. They were a BIG hit!
idea via

The party was hoppin'...

There were a bunch of festivities going on as well as the dancing- a bonfire with ghost stories, "scary" movies (and by "scary" I mean PG-13), karaoke, limbo, as well as a pie eating contest (makin' me sick to even look at the picture), and a costume contest. We were the favorites to win and in the end a robot beat us... WHAT?!

There were a TON of people there and everyone was dressed in such amazing costumes! These are just some pictures that were snuck onto my camera...

Like I said, it was so much fun! I'm really glad I went!

Now, time to get even more into the Halloween spirit...

Do you believe in ghosts? I don't like to say either way... why tempt them?? If you don't, here are some ghost stories that might make you change your mind...

A little while ago my old ballet teacher Amy, posted on her blog a picture that her sister had taken while in England. I haven't forgotten this picture and I so I asked Amy if I could share it with you today. I stole her explanation of it too- I felt she could explain it better than I could:

"This picture still gives me the creeps.  When I first saw this picture, I screamed and my hair stood on end.  It is SO REAL!!!
This is taken from a digital camera.  There was absolutely no doctoring done to the photo.
(Other than just cropping and enlarging the photo so you can see the faces better--it's blurry because it's about 7 years old and taken with a lower-quality digital camera.)

Look above the two girls' heads.
That is clearly another face.

A ghost.

Here's the story:  My sister, Stacey, did a study-abroad in England.  They spent one day and night in Salisbury.  She and her friend sat on this bench outside a church.  Another friend was asked to take a quick photo.  As they were skimming through the photos the next morning, they saw the ghost.  They did some research and found out that they were sitting on an old, buried graveyard.

Look and the clarity of the face above the two girls.  It's not a double of one of the girls because,
1) There would have been a double of EACH girl (and the bench for that matter),
2) The angle of the face is different from each girl, and
3) You can just make out different clothes (old fashioned?) that the ghost is wearing.

It looks like he (she?) just wanted to pop in and be in the picture.

(I have had some people mention and point out there they see TWO ghosts in the picture.  Just to the left of the tree, there is a resemblance of a figure there.  Maybe.)"

What do YOU think?

A couple days ago Lauren shared some videos of "ghosts at Disneyland" on her blog and I couldn't resist sharing them too.

Do you see the "person" walking around?! What?!

As I was watching this a second time it looks as if the hitchhiking ghost is wearing a cast member name tag... and I would know what those look like!

This ones a little harder to see. But CRAZY if you can see it. Looks as if the ghost is having a fun time watching all the scared guests faces until- it just disappears...

Can anyone explain those??

Ok, back to the fun and games. :)

The other night my mom held her annual Halloween Witches Party. This is where she gets a bunch of friends from our neighborhood together, they all dress up as witches (I did her makeup and hair this year), and they have dinner etc. This year it was a Bunco party...

They're all awesome. :)

I have to add in this picture of my sister and her family in their Halloween costumes. It is just TOO cute!! Look at my niece/the chicken's feet! Rubber gloves! Hilarious! My niece/the chicken won the costume contest at their party! :D

Well, sorry it was such a long post. But I had so many things to show you! It was just my way of throwing a little blogger Halloween party. But I'd love for you to join by linking up any of your Halloween themed posts!

Happy Sunday everyone!

P.S. If you haven't entered the Printed Peaks Giveaway- do so now!

And, you are??

Well, it's official. Hermione Granger was the winner of my costume contest! She was losing at first but after I posted that time turner photo she shot to the lead. Sorry these photos are so TERRIBLE! It was really cold and I didn't feel like playing with the settings... I now realize I should have. Oh well I guess.

What do you think? Did I do alright?? (as far as you can tell that is)

I have another party tonight and I'm going as something else. I'm excited to show you- I'll make sure to get much better pictures. I promise!

P.S. I'm guest posting over at The Creative Coastie Wife AND Our Dayley Happenings today, feel free to check it out. :)

Halloween Fun- Calling all Hocus Pocus Fans

Yesterday I was lucky enough to guest post for The Green Project- Check it!

I am the bloggy meet up queen! haha! jk. But I've got another one for you today. Wednesday night I was invited to go up to Lauren's family's home to make Caramel Apples! How could I refuse?! Not only do I LOOOOOOOVE me some caramel apples, but I'd heard all about how amazing their house is. It was settled- I was going.

Look at our gorgeous (and delicious) creations!

Pretty sure that Lauren and I were destined to be friends.

Ok, you Hocus Pocus fans ready for the most amazing thing I think I've ever seen???

Feast your eyes on THIS!

YES- that would be a replica of Winifred Sanderson's Spell Book! Lauren's mom MADE IT! MADE IT! WHAT?! I'm wondering if she'll teach me... Hmmmm...

As you can see I was ecstatic...

Their house was decorated perfectly! It was so much fun wandering around and seeing all of the festive decor.

After exploring it was time to sit back and watch Hocus Pocus by the fire place.

Before we left I had to get a few more pictures. They have something that they call the "Peter Pan Room"... It's not finished, but I had to snap some pictures to share with you. First of all- you go through a SECRET DOOR to get to the room! Then your engulfed in Neverland Magic!

She's still working on the mural. I need to go back when it's all finished (if they'll have me). It's seriously going to be breathtaking. Plus they have LED lights all over so it looks like stars and pixie dust!

Outside is just as great as inside. They have a giant eyeball projected onto their front window that moves around and seems to stare right at you. They also made this giant pumpkin man!

Needless to say- it was SUCH a fun evening! I couldn't have asked for a more fun and festive Autumn night. Thanks Lauren!!

P.S. Don't forget to enter the Printed Peaks Giveaway!! It's amazing and you guys are so lucky!

Gardner Village (with bloggy friends)- Check!

First- Remember that Pumpkin Project I mentioned?? Well it's UP! Just click HERE. :)

One of my favorite fall activities (it was on my Fall To-Do List- which by the way, I've completed all but TWO items on that list!! Go me!) is to visit a wonderful place called Gardner Village. They have such fun Halloween displays, the scenery is Fall perfection, and wonderful shops. I decided the best way to do that this year was with some of my local bloggy friends!

We first met for a delicious lunch at Gardner Villages wonderful restaurant- Archibalds. Then we strolled around the shops and enjoyed the crisp cool Fall air (or froze in it... I had on- thick tights, a long sleeve undershirt, my chambray top, a thick dress, warm boots, and a warm vest- and i still froze!).

The main attraction in October would be their "witches" that are everywhere. They're all so funny and different. There's a hoola-hooping witch, witches playing baseball, and even a witch using the outhouse... :/

Look at this- Fall perfection, am I right?!

They also have a candy shop that is a must see. It's filled with all of your favorite old fashion candy as well as fresh fudge in a variety of flavors!

It was such a fun afternoon with these ladies! I'm so glad they were able to make it (especially those who ran over during their lunch break!). I hope you are all having a FABULOUS week! Are you ready for Halloween?? What are you going to be?! Keep voting on my costume poll. I can't wait to see what the result will be! haha!

P.S. DON'T FORGET to enter this weeks giveaway from Printed Peaks! It's seriously AMAZING!!!

P.P.S. You can find the girls I went to Gardner Village with here:

Printed Peaks Giveaway! And A Winner!

Hey guys!

OH MY! You are Soooooo incredibly lucky right now. Why? Because you have a chance to win this GORGEOUS handmade necklace from Lo's Etsy shop- Printed Peaks. I'm working with Lo right now on designing a custom piece for myself- does that show you how much I love her pieces? haha! (in case you couldn't figure it out- I love them A LOT)

Here's Lo to tell us a little about her shop:

Hi I'm Lo of Little Somethings by Little Lo Hood. I am so lucky to be sponsoring right here on this lovely blog and wanted to offer the wonderful Gentri Lee readers a chance to win a necklace from my shop, Printed Peaks. I founded Printed Peaks and started working painstakingly on it in April of this year. Printed Peaks is based on my once and always home, Vermont, and how dearly I miss the beautiful landscape. Printed Peaks are handcrafted and great detail is put into each and every piece, this means you are getting a unique necklace. The best part of the whole process was that I was able to work with my father on crafting these pieces out of wood.  I'm giving away the Bromley necklace (named after a mountain in Vermont).  The necklace is stained in a nice dark brown which picks up all the grains of the wood, which I love.  A simple yet unique piece that can be worn with practically anything!

Awesome right?! The story is just as good as the pieces themselves. :)

November Sponsoring and Weekend Happenings

Hey everyone!

I am accepting Sponsors for November. So if you're interested please email me at gentrileeblog(at)gmail(dot)com. You can find all of the details by clicking HERE or by clicking on the "Sponsors" banner to your right---->

I have some of the lowest prices around and options for everyone. :) I decided to increase the size of the ads and I have also added an X-Large option for those interested.

I'd love to have any of you as a sponsor- so just email me! :)

This weekend was a lazy one. I. did. nothing. Jk. I tried. Tried to make soup and failed. :P I'll have to try a different recipe. (no it wasn't your recipe Holly. I have no doubt that one will be perfect!)

A few friends came over- as usual on Sunday night and after dinner we carved pumpkins... again- tried and failed. I had picked a very extravagant pattern and when I removed the paper to start carving... madness. There was no way I was going to be able to tell what was what. So I carved "sparkles" all over my pumpkin. I should have done more, but my spirits were shot. haha! My sister and two guy friends however succeeded! They did awesome.

I also received my time turner necklace in the mail over the weekend from Sarah's giveaway. SO excited! I love it!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! :D Can you believe that in a week from today it'll be NOVEMBER?! CRAZY! Let's not talk about it. (unless you want to sponsor that is... haha!)

What did you do this weekend? Anything fun? (of course you did. I read it yesterday on all of your blogs! haha!) Have a happy Tuesday everyone!

P.S. If you missed my GHOST POST over at Pics-O-Andrea yesterday, it's a good one. One that shouldn't be missed!

Blogger(s) of the Week: Awkward Girls

Hey guys!
First- I am GHOST posting over at Pics-o-Andrea today! So be sure to check it out! And don't forget to vote on my Halloween costume to your left!

Today we have the guest post from this weeks "Blog of the Week" the Awkward Girls. I fell in love with these girls and their blog at first click. They're funny, fashionable, and entertaining. So read and enjoy, then go visit their blog!

Hello Everyone! First things first, we want to give a huge thanks to Gentri for featuring us on her adorable blog. She is so sweet!
Well let's get to the nitty gritty.
Madison (left) and Lauren (right)
We are Lauren and Madison and our blog is Awkward Girls! We started blogging a few months ago as a way to fill up our seemingly endless summer days. It has since evolved into something we love doing. Maybe we affectionately refer to the blog as "our baby". Normal, right?

Well a little about us: We met our freshman year of college after living two doors away in the dorms. Just by coincidence, we're both from close, very similar towns in Northern California. So we suppose you can say it was fate. Our blog chronicles our adventures in fashioning, studenthood, singledom, and friendshipness.
And yes, we made up those words.

We've always loved fashion. Maybe a little too much. On our blog you'll find a little taste of what we like to wear:

But wait! There's more! We also love to share some of our very favorite things. Which include:

Thrifting! We are thrifting fiends. Seriously, there is nothing more satisfying than searching through racks and racks to find that one gem that was meant for nobody but YOU.

Yummy food. Yeah, girls gotta eat. And we do. A lot.

Music! We love all music! The kind that makes you dance on your furniture, the kind that makes you cry, the kind that makes you move your hips like yeah. You know what we mean. We especially love going to concerts, so you see a lot of that too.

Sometimes we just blog about whatever makes us happy. Like this kitty pillow.
For more, check out our We Likey Wednesdays to get a weekly roundup of our favorite things.

We're strong supporters of laughter and we definitely don't take ourselves too seriously.

People are always asking us where the "Awkward" comes from. This might help:

If you're into that sort of thing, maybe you can stop by and say hi!

Lauren and Madison

p.s. Thanks again Gentri!

See? Aren't they awesome?! (and awkward? Just kidding. haha!) They have such a fun blog. So I suggest you get your blogging bottoms over there stat! And don't forget to check out my GHOST POST! :D

Costume Voting Now Open

Hey guys!

It's time! Time to vote on what my costume for Halloween should be! Whoop! You guys came up with some AWESOME suggestions. It was really hard to narrow it down. BUT, I have picked my top 4 (weird number, I know) options. And here they are. I did a small preview of what each costume will look like. Now, these were just quick looks. For the real thing they would look much better.:

1. Gypsy- This one wasn't exactly suggested. But Lo (I think it was Lo, I couldn't find the comment) mentioned how she was a gypsy all growing up and I loved the idea!
2. Snow White- My older sister has been begging me to be Snow White.
3. A Tree- This one was suggested by Katilda and I loved it. I would rat my hair up like crazy and cover it in leaves and possibly make it into a nest. haha!
4. Hermione (not pictured)- Growing up I was always told I looked like Hermione. For some reason I've never been her for Halloween. But when I won Sarah's time turner necklace (like the one Hermione uses in Prisoner of Azkaban) and Candace suggested being Hermione, I decided it was time to consider it. Actually both Sarah and Candace are going to be Luna Lovegood for Halloween! haha!

Which one do you like best? Place your vote in the pole box to the left. :D

It's The Weekend!

I hope it's off to a lovely start for you. :) I've got big plans for this weekend and I really hope I can accomplish all of my plans rather than forgoing them to stay home and read... Wish me luck!

Here are some Instagrams that I don't believe I've shared with you yet... You know, in case you felt Instagram deprived...

1. Pumpkin Cookies! I am not kidding when I say that we've got THE best pumpkin recipe in the world... I should really share it... or keep it a secret... hmmm
2. Picking pumpkins for a special project you'll see soon!
3. A screen grab from THIS guest post
4. Driving to church last Sunday. LOVE FALL!
5. Getting my daily serving of Honey (allergy medicine) with granola and bananas. Yum! So far I haven't noticed too much of a difference. But I'm assuming I need to build up some sort of immunity or something. It may take a little while I guess?
6. My amazing grammar skills... Can you spot my HUGE mistake(s)? I just don't know what went wrong. haha!
7. Watched Snow White this week! Loved every second. :)
8. Painted my nails using inspiration from THIS
9. Thank you pinterest for another great idea!

Are you doing anything fun this weekend?? :)

P.S. Don't forget to enter this weeks Giveaway!!
